Guatemala and U.S. officials strengthen border security cooperation
Guatemalan Attorney General Gabriel García Luna has held several meetings with United States officials to strengthen bilateral cooperation on border security and law enforcement.
On August 26, García Luna met with Charles Wall, the Deputy Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), to discuss border security, the exchange of best practices, and the strengthening of institutional capacities. These discussions aim to enhance mechanisms for enforcing migration laws and improving security between the two nations.
Additionally, Jay Bauer, director of the Joint Task Force Alpha (JTFA), met with the Attorney General alongside Deputy Federal Prosecutor Mary Lou Castillo and legal advisors from the Office of Foreign Prosecutorial Training and Development (OPDAT).
