Guatemala banking institutions to close October 12 for holiday

The Superintendencia de Bancos (SIB) in Guatemala has announced that banking institutions, agencies, financial societies, insurance companies, exchange houses, microfinance institutions, and warehouses will remain closed on Monday, October 12, in observance of the ‘Día de la Raza’ holiday.

Following authorization by the Monetary Board, the SIB noted that service availability is at the discretion of each entity. Some institutions may offer limited services through special windows or specific agencies. Branches located within shopping centers are expected to operate according to the individual criteria of each entity. The SIB recommends that citizens check their respective institutions' digital platforms to verify specific operating hours and locations for the holiday.
