Guatemala celebrates 153rd anniversary of Escuela Politécnica

Guatemalan President Bernardo Arévalo led ceremonies to commemorate the 153rd anniversary of the Escuela Politécnica and Cadet Day. During the event, Arévalo emphasized the necessity of modernizing the military to address future challenges and technological advancements.

In his address, the President urged cadets to prepare for leadership roles that serve the nation and the people while upholding the Constitution and the rule of law. He noted that the strength of the institution is measured by its prestige and the trust it inspires in society. Colonel Rafael Ayala, director of the Escuela Politécnica, added that the institution has contributed to national development since its founding in 1873 and has recently reviewed its curriculum to adapt to evolving national threats.
