Guatemala City hosts Encuentro de Conviteros 2026 parade

The Encuentro de Conviteros 2026 took place in Guatemala City's historic center, featuring 139 groups from 20 different departments. The event showcases traditional music, dance, and elaborate costumes including masks, headdresses, and armor.

Participants gathered at two primary locations: Jocotenango Park and the Miguel Ángel Asturias National Theater. From these points, the groups paraded through the streets of Zone 1, eventually concluding their routes at Constitution Plaza. The festivities serve as a display of community identity and the preservation of generational traditions through creative costume design and performance.
