Guatemala City: Mother and daughter killed during TikTok live stream

A mother and daughter were shot and killed inside their secondhand clothing business in the Santa Fe neighborhood of Zone 13, Guatemala City, on Tuesday afternoon, September 8.

The victims have been identified as 43-year-old Olga Carolina Esquité and her 23-year-old daughter, Natali Nicole Esquité. The attack occurred while the younger woman was conducting a live broadcast on TikTok to promote and sell garments.

Emergency responders from Bomberos Municipales arrived at the scene and confirmed that both women had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to vital areas and had passed away. Authorities are currently investigating the incident, with extortion being considered a primary motive for the attack. The National Civil Police and prosecutors from the Ministerio Público have secured the area to collect evidence.
