Guatemala launches youth sports and leadership programs

Various community sports and development initiatives are being launched in Guatemala to support youth development.

The Centro Deportivo y Recreativo Gerona in Guatemala City will offer free vacation courses from November 6 to December 11, 2026. The program is designed for children and adolescents and includes activities such as physical conditioning, stationary cycling, soccer, rhythmic gymnastics, and Zumba. Registration can be completed through the Ministry of Culture and Sports or in person at the center.

In La Palmita, the Gatorade Stadium initiative is expanding its scope to include a sports school focused on leadership and soft skills. Supported by PepsiCo, cbc, the Municipality of Guatemala, and Fundación Bi, the program will provide 100 youths aged 5 to 16 with soccer training alongside education in teamwork, conflict resolution, and financial literacy over the next 12 months.
