Guatemala restores road access to Zacapa via provisional passage

The Ministry of Communications, Infrastructure and Housing (CIV) will enable a provisional passage at kilometer 111 of the CA-9 Norte route to the Atlantic on Saturday, August 29, at 16:00 hours. This measure aims to restore road connectivity toward Zacapa following damage to the Güijo bridge caused by a traffic accident.

The provisional passage consists of a ford (badén) constructed alongside the bridge. Although the project was initially expected to take 10 days, technical teams optimized the work to complete it ahead of schedule.

To ensure safety and manage traffic flow, Provial will deploy permanent brigades to the sector to regulate vehicle movement and guide drivers. Following the activation of this passage, the CIV will continue work on the construction of a Bailey bridge.
