Luisa González joins Pachakutik for Manabí bid; Fuerza Popular disputes Puno leadership

In Ecuador, the Pachakutik movement has announced that former presidential candidate Luisa González will run for the Prefecture of Manabí in the November 29, 2026, elections. She will be accompanied by Gabriel Giler, a physician and former assembly member, as her running mate. This strategic shift follows the suspension of the Revolución Ciudadana movement and the subsequent suspension of the Amigo movement by the Tribunal Contencioso Electoral (TCE).

In Peru, the Fuerza Popular party is experiencing internal conflict regarding its regional leadership in Puno. Party spokesperson Henry Salinas stated that the National Executive Committee recognizes Xiomara Dávalos Quispe as the official regional coordinator. Salinas contested a meeting held in Juliaca, claiming it was unauthorized and led by Eduardo Mamani, who allegedly formed a parallel committee with individuals no longer affiliated with the party.
