Guatemala suspends Guatecompras procurement portal changes

Guatemalan President Bernardo Arévalo has announced the suspension of recent changes to the Guatecompras state procurement portal. The decision follows a constitutional court injunction and pushback from the business sector regarding transparency concerns.

Finance Minister Jonathan Menkos will formalize the suspension and initiate a new round of consultations with various sectors. The government stated the goal is to ensure that the technical adjustments, intended to protect personal data and streamline information, do not hinder the oversight and fiscalization of state purchases.
