Dominican Republic raises gasoline and diesel prices in August

The Dominican Republic government adjusted fuel prices for the week of 8 – 14 August 2026. Gasoline premium rose by RD$3.00 per gallon to RD$341.10, gasoline regular by RD$2.00 to RD$304.50, gasoil regular by RD$2.00 to RD$256.80 and gasoil optimal by RD$3.00 to RD$293.10. Prices for liquefied petroleum gas (GLP) and natural gas were kept unchanged.

To cushion the impact of international volatility, the state allocated RD$931.79 million to an anti‑crisis subsidy fund. Officials said the hikes reflect the sharp rise in refinery margins – the “crack spread” – which has jumped about 95 % for premium gasoline and 131 % for optimal gasoil since the United States‑Iran conflict heightened global fuel‑price uncertainty. The measures aim to protect consumer purchasing power while preserving fiscal sustainability.
