Regional authorities deploy emergency aid for climate and health risks
Various regional authorities are implementing emergency measures to address climate-related health and social risks. In Mexico, several states are preparing for winter. In Morelos, SEDIF is launching winter clothing drives and school feeding programs. In Chihuahua, municipal authorities have opened temporary shelters for people experiencing homelessness due to cold fronts and rain. Additionally, in Tamaulipas, the DIF is organizing the distribution of blankets and food to vulnerable families.
In Guatemala, CONRED has announced a plan to provide food aid to approximately 688,000 families affected by climate variability, including both droughts and excessive rainfall. Meanwhile, in Culiacán, SEBIDES has delivered humanitarian aid, including water and blankets, to displaced families in the Ayuné community.
