Guatemala TSE reviews 195 files for early campaigning

The Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) in Guatemala is reviewing 195 files regarding early electoral campaigning. The institution is monitoring activities to ensure compliance with the Law of Elections and Political Parties (LEPP).

Under current regulations, political parties, coalitions, and candidates are only permitted to engage in proselytism at this stage. Article 94 Bis of the LEPP stipulates that individuals who conduct unauthorized campaigns to promote their image for public office may face sanctions, including the inability to register as candidates. The TSE has called for respect of the legal timeframe to ensure equality in the 2027 electoral process, which is scheduled to begin its official campaign phase on March 29, 2027.
