Guatemala updates Miguel Ángel Asturias Cultural Center regulations
The Ministry of Culture and Sports of Guatemala has officially implemented Ministerial Agreement 863-2026, which updates the regulations and fee schedules for the use of the Miguel Ángel Asturias Cultural Center (CCMAA).
The new regulations establish a classification system for events, categorized into external artistic productions, co-productions, and internal artistic productions. For internal productions, all ticket and income proceeds will belong entirely to the CCMAA. Funds generated from the use of spaces, goods, and services will be managed as private funds to cover operational needs, including maintenance, security, landscaping, and the acquisition of necessary supplies.
Specific rental fees have been set for national events, such as Q55,000 for the Gran Sala ‘Efraín Recinos’ and Q20,000 for the Teatro de Cámara ‘Hugo Carrillo’. International presentations will incur higher rates, with the Gran Sala costing Q125,000 and the Teatro de Cámara costing Q45,500. The agreement also regulates the use of rehearsal rooms and various other spaces within the complex, including the Teatro al Aire Libre ‘Otto René Castillo’ and the Teatro de Bolsillo.
