Guatemala's National Civil Police begins training for 59th class

The National Civil Police (PNC) of Guatemala has launched the basic training course for its 59th class of agents. The new cohort consists of 2,559 aspirants, including 1,931 men and 628 women from various departments across the country.

The training program will last 10 months, providing both theoretical and practical instruction at various PNC academies. During this period, trainees will receive food and a monthly stipend of Q1,200. The curriculum focuses on public service, discipline, and operational capabilities.

Officials noted that the inclusion of members from the Maya, Xinka, and Garífuna peoples is a priority to ensure the police force reflects Guatemala’s cultural and linguistic diversity. The inauguration ceremony included high-ranking officials such as the Minister of the Interior, Marco Antonio Villeda Sandoval, and the Director General of the PNC, David Estuardo Custodio Boteo.
