Peru's 2026 Election Results Analyzed by ONPE

The Oficina Nacional de Procesos Electorales (ONPE) released a detailed analysis of the 2026 general election results. Six political parties – Fuerza Popular, Juntos por el Perú, Renovación Popular, Partido del Buen Gobierno, Partido Cívico Obras and Ahora Nación‑AN – secured representation in the new bicameral Congress for the 2026‑2031 term, limiting parliamentary fragmentation.

Geographically, Juntos por el Perú led in 1,108 districts (58.6% of the nation), especially in the southern and northern highlands, while Fuerza Popular topped 583 districts, mainly along the coast and in Loreto and Ucayali. In the presidential vote, Fuerza Popular obtained 17.2% (2,877,678 votes) and Juntos por el Perú 12% (2,015,114 votes). The report also noted a positive correlation between higher human development indices and support for candidates Rafael López Aliaga and Jorge Nieto, with an inverse relationship for Roberto Sánchez. Preferential voting affected 25 deputies and nine senators, reshaping the order of party lists, particularly in the Chamber of Deputies.
