Guayana Esequiba reopens Dr. San José Gregorio Hernández Hospital

The Dr. San José Gregorio Hernández Hospital City has been officially reopened in Tumeremo, located in the Sifontes municipality of Guayana Esequiba. The 53-year-old medical facility underwent a comprehensive rehabilitation project to strengthen the public health system in the region.

The renovated infrastructure is capable of treating 18,000 patients per month and provides free services 24 hours a day. Key improvements include the modernization of emergency and observation areas, which can accommodate 18 adults and 16 children simultaneously. The project also involved waterproofing roofs, upgrading electrical systems, improving air conditioning, and repainting delivery rooms and operating theaters.

Additional services now include a Diagnostic and External Consultation Center for immunization, prenatal care, laboratory work, and chronic disease management. The facility also features a re-equipped blood bank using biomolecular technology and updated morgue facilities for the National Service of Medicine and Forensic Sciences. The hospital is staffed by 170 professionals, including specialists in anesthesiology, surgery, traumatology, pediatrics, and gynecology.
