Guayaquil ATM investigates traffic agent over alleged bribery
The Agencia de Tránsito y Movilidad (ATM) in Guayaquil has launched an investigation into a traffic agent following a viral video that suggests potential bribery during a vehicle operation on Francisco de Orellana Avenue.
The footage shows the officer standing apart from other agents while interacting with a driver. Both individuals are seen using their mobile phones; social media users have speculated that a bank transfer may have been made to the officer, though this has not been officially confirmed.
The ATM has referred the case to its Department of Information and Internal Affairs to determine the circumstances of the interaction and establish responsibility. The agency stated it maintains a policy of zero tolerance regarding conduct that violates regulations and will apply sanctions if irregularities are proven.
