Guayaquil City signs veteran goalkeeper Jorge Pinos and defender Romario Caicedo
Guayaquil City announced the acquisition of two experienced Ecuadorian players for the second half of the LigaPro season. Goalkeeper Jorge Pinos, 36, joined the club on a free transfer after a season and a half with Unión La Calera in Chile. Pinos previously won the LigaPro title and the Copa Sudamericana with Independiente del Valle and will provide experience and stability between the posts.
Defender Romario Caicedo, also 36, also arrived on a free contract after completing ten consecutive seasons with Emelec. The right‑back is expected to reinforce the back line as the team pursues a place in international competitions. Both signings reflect Guayaquil City’s strategy of adding seasoned national talent to improve its defensive strength and contend for top‑table positions.
