Guayaquil expands social programs for technical training and disability support

The municipal government of Guayaquil, through DASE EP, has launched several social initiatives aimed at improving employability and supporting citizens with disabilities.

DASE EP is offering 700 free technical training spots in high-demand trades, including basic mechanics, automotive operations, residential electricity, welding, refrigeration, and air conditioning maintenance. The eight-week courses consist of 70% practical and 30% theoretical training to foster entrepreneurship and employment. Registration is scheduled for late August and early September at the CCC Huancavilca.

In support of educational inclusion, the Centro Municipal Cuatro de Enero provides free specialized therapies for children with disabilities, such as Down syndrome and visual impairments. These services help families save between USD 500 and USD 600 monthly on private care while strengthening academic and autonomy skills.

Additionally, the Esperanza Ciudadana program recently distributed 100 mobility aids, including wheelchairs, walkers, and canes. This brings the total number of mobility implements provided during the current administration to over 7,300, representing a total investment of over USD 1.1 million.
