Guayaquil food business sanctioned for improper waste disposal

Authorities in Guayaquil have sanctioned the owner of a food establishment in the Sauces 2 sector for improper waste disposal. The intervention by the Dirección de Aseo Cantonal, Mercados y Servicios Especiales (DACMSE) followed a citizen report involving video footage of a worker discarding trash onto a roadside median.

Under current municipal ordinances, such infractions carry fines ranging from $96.40 to $602.50. While the specific amount imposed on this business has not been disclosed, the incident highlights ongoing challenges with waste management in the area. Local residents have reported issues with food waste and improper disposal outside of scheduled collection hours, which occur daily between 20:00 and 21:00.

The municipal government has urged the community to adhere to established collection schedules and use sealed bags to maintain urban cleanliness.
