Guayaquil hosts 10th Calle Córdova Festival and free cultural attractions in July

Guayaquil celebrated its 491st foundation on July 19 with the tenth edition of the Festival de la Calle Córdova. The free, all‑day event ran from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the intersection of Córdova and Mendiburo streets, featuring live music, dance, gastronomy, visual art and local entrepreneurship. Festival director Mirian Herrera said the goal was to bring families together to remember traditional customs, while producer Maithe Ricardi highlighted a family‑friendly morning program and a lineup that included the Banda Latina Educando Ecuador, municipal bands, university artists, DJs and tributes of Julio Jaramillo. Municipal support provided security, traffic control, medical assistance and waste management, and the festival also boosted local commerce for vendors and artisans.

In parallel, the city promoted dozens of free public spaces for residents and tourists during the July celebrations. Highlights included the iconic Malecón 2000 riverfront promenade, the urban art hub Guayarte, the tranquil Malecón del Salado, the expansive Parque Samanes, the historic Cerro Santa Ana with its panoramic views, the Plaza de la Administración for civic events, the modern waterfront Puerto Santa Ana, and the heritage‑rich Barrio Las Peñas. These venues offered opportunities for walking, recreation, cultural performances and sightseeing without cost, reinforcing Guayaquil’s reputation as the "Pearl of the Pacific".
