Guayaquil hosts 2026 World Cadet Judo Championships
The 2026 World Cadet Judo Championships concluded in Guayaquil, Ecuador, on August 23. Held at the Voltaire Paladines Polo Coliseum, the event hosted 477 judokas representing 62 countries.
The competition featured 253 male and 224 female athletes competing over four days. The tournament was organized by the Ecuadorian Judo Federation, with logistical and infrastructure support provided by the Guayas Sports Federation.
During the team competition, the Canadian squad faced France in a closely contested repechage match. Despite early victories by Zoe Elementa, Amir Temirbaev, and Emma Tritton, Canada ultimately lost the tie 3-3, with the deciding match won by France.
