Guaymallén launches Mendoza’s first comprehensive center for people experiencing homelessness
The Municipality of Guaymallén has launched Mendoza’s first comprehensive care center for people experiencing homelessness. Operating from 8:00 to 20:00, the facility provides more than immediate assistance by addressing underlying issues such as mental health, substance abuse, lack of documentation, and vocational training.
Key services include job training through the municipal trades school, educational support to complete schooling, and guidance for obtaining or regularizing national identity documents (DNI). The center is staffed by professionals from the Guaymallén Social Development Directorate and a team from Sedronar’s Territorial Approach Integral Device.
Mayor Marcos Calvente reported that in its first few months of operation, the program has already helped ten individuals transition from the streets into formal employment. The center was recently visited by the Minister of Government, Infrastructure, and Territorial Development, Natalio Mema.
