Guaymallén: One-year-old girl dies in irrigation ditch accident
A one-year-old girl died in Guaymallén, Mendoza, after being found in an irrigation ditch near her home on Severo del Castillo street.
According to police reports, a 911 call was placed at 14:50 regarding the child's disappearance. Shortly after, a second call reported that she had been located in a nearby irrigation ditch. A 23-year-old relative discovered the child in the water and transported her to the Puente de Hierro Microhospital.
Despite emergency resuscitation efforts by medical staff, the child was pronounced dead. The attending physician identified the cause of death as drowning. The Guaymallén Fiscal Office has launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances leading to the accident.
