Gubbio launches Geo-Logica festival to explore Earth's history and climate future

The Italian town of Gubbio will host the inaugural Geo-Logica festival on 18–19 July 2026, featuring a series of public talks that link geology, climate science and environmental challenges. A preview event on 6 July will be presented by geologist Mario Tozzi, who will discuss humanity’s choices in the context of Earth’s history.

Organised by the municipality with support from local universities and scientific consultants, the festival will bring together geologists, physicists, speleologists, paleontologists and naturalists. Sessions aim to show how studies of deep time can inform current climate change models and future scenarios. Notable speakers include Professor Marco Menichetti (University of Urbino), speleologist Tullio Bernabei, and PEFC Italy’s Antonio Brunori, among others. The programme also includes a space‑exploration segment with astrophysicist Luca Perri and journalist Emilio Cozzi.

Geo‑Logica is positioned as a cultural initiative to raise public awareness of biodiversity loss and climate crisis, leveraging Gubbio’s internationally recognised geological heritage.
