Guédiawaye Basket Academy wins Senegal women's basketball championship, ending ASC Ville de Dakar's five-year reign

Guédiawaye Basket Academy (GBA) captured the Senegal National 1 women's basketball title after beating ASC Ville de Dakar in a two‑leg final at the Stadium Marius Ndiaye on Saturday. After losing the first leg 68‑72, GBA surged ahead in the return match, winning 62‑52 and securing a 130‑124 aggregate victory.

The triumph gives GBA its first ever national championship and ends ASC Ville de Dakar's five‑year dominance of the league. The victory follows ASC's recent domestic double of the League Cup and Mayor's Cup earlier in June. In the same evening, Senegal's U18 men's national team defeated SOBAC 68‑61.

The title marks a historic milestone for the Guédiawaye suburb club, reflecting steady progress and now adding a national championship to its achievements.
