Portugal reports multiple fatal accidents and arson investigations

Portugal has reported several fatal incidents and criminal investigations involving accidents and arson.

In Águeda, the Polícia Judiciária detained a 49-year-old man suspected of causing a forest fire in Serém de Cima. The suspect, who was already under supervision for alcohol dependency, is linked to multiple ignitions this year. Similarly, in Canhas, authorities are investigating a fire that burned approximately 25 hectares of agricultural land.

Multiple fatal accidents have been recorded: a 64-year-old Irish man drowned in an unmonitored area of Prainha beach in Alvor; a 72-year-old man died in a tractor accident in Vale da Porca; and a man was killed following a railway collision in Vila Nova de Gaia. Additionally, a body was recovered north of Ribeira Grande after a man went missing from a fishing vessel.

In Coruche, a three-vehicle collision on the Estrada Nacional 251 resulted in three victims, two of whom were trapped in their vehicles. In Montemor-o-Velho, the bodies of a man who had been missing for two months were located by the PJ and GNR.
