Guelph man arrested for allegedly impersonating officer in sexual assault

Guelph police have arrested 69-year-old Brian Deboer in connection with a sexual assault involving a 15-year-old girl. The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of August 20, when the victim and another youth requested a ride to the Guelph train station.

Authorities allege the suspect, driving a vintage red truck, identified himself as an off-duty police officer. This information led the complainant to believe he was legitimate. After driving the two youths around the city and dropping off the friend at an unknown location, the suspect allegedly drove the complainant to a parking lot where the assault took place.

Deboer was arrested on August 22 after attending the police station. Investigators are now seeking information regarding any other potential victims, specifically looking for reports involving a man claiming to be a police officer or driving a red truck.
