Guenther Steiner dismisses potential FIA presidency bid
Former Haas F1 team principal Guenther Steiner has dismissed any possibility of running for the presidency of the FIA. Speaking on the ‘Up to Speed’ podcast, Steiner joked that the current president, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, appears likely to remain in the position indefinitely, stating, “I think the current president is staying there forever, so I haven't got a chance, even if I want to.”
Steiner, who gained widespread recognition through the series ‘Drive to Survive’, expressed that he is happy not to pursue the role, noting that he does not believe he would be a good fit for the position. He also humorously suggested that his first act as president would be to abolish the FIA's ban on profanity.
While Steiner has ruled out the FIA presidency, he has not entirely closed the door on a return to the Formula 1 paddock. He indicated that a comeback would depend on finding a project that offers sufficient excitement and challenge. Currently, Steiner is expanding his involvement in motorsport, having led the acquisition of the Red Bull KTM Tech3 MotoGP team, where he is set to serve as CEO and co-owner in 2025.
