Guenther Steiner eyes MotoGP growth under Liberty Media

Guenther Steiner, former head of the Haas Formula 1 team, now serves as CEO of the KTM Tech3 MotoGP outfit after his consortium acquired the team in 2025. He says his role has shifted from overseeing daily race operations to focusing on commercial decisions, contracts and long‑term development, leaving race‑day management to team manager Nico Goyon.

Steiner told Reuters that MotoGP has "immense potential" for expansion under its new owner Liberty Media, which bought the sport’s parent company Dorna in 2024. He likens the possible growth to the boost F1 experienced after Liberty took over its commercial rights in 2017, noting that while MotoGP need not copy F1’s racing format, it could benefit from similar presentation and marketing strategies. He highlighted the U.S. market as a key area for additional races and called for broader talent recruitment beyond the sport’s traditional Spanish and Italian dominance. The British Grand Prix at Silverstone, meanwhile, has secured a contract extension through 2028.
