Guernsey’s Flying Christine III Raises Funds with Car Pull and Celebrates First Birth in 18 Years
A bright yellow car, modified by marine‑ambulance volunteers, will be pulled along Guernsey’s east coast on Sunday 9 August to raise money for the Flying Christine III. Organiser Gary Ward said the team completed successful float tests and aims to sail the car to Herm on 28 August, seeking corporate sponsors for the venture.
In June, the Flying Christine III recorded its first birth aboard in 18 years when baby Harriet Mae Magell was delivered near Jethou while the vessel was transporting her mother Kyla from Sark to Guernsey. The newborn, weighing 9 lb, was recorded on the birth certificate as born in the “territorial waters of the Bailiwick of Guernsey”. Medical staff and volunteers assisted the delivery, and the family praised the crew’s care.
