Guerrero Congress demands report on La Sabana River protection works

The Permanent Commission of the State Congress has requested that the National Water Commission (Conagua) provide a technical report within 60 days regarding the status of hydraulic protection works on the La Sabana River in Acapulco.

Deputy Violeta Martínez Pacheco noted that the river is a primary drainage channel for Acapulco. She warned that siltation, erosion, and deteriorating infrastructure have reduced the river's hydraulic capacity, increasing the risk of flooding, property damage, and loss of life during hydrometeorological events. The request seeks transparency regarding the physical and financial progress of the integral hydraulic program announced by the Mexican government to protect vulnerable populations.
