Guerrero Congress faces audits over 90 million pesos in irregularities
The Guerrero State Congress is facing multiple investigations regarding significant financial irregularities. The Federal Auditor's Office (ASF) has detected a potential damage to the Federal Public Treasury totaling approximately 90.7 million pesos from the 2020 public accounts.
According to the ASF, 55.5 million pesos in Citizen Support for Attention funds could not be verified because the Congress provided only invoices and activity reports without photographic evidence of goods delivered or documentation of citizen requests. Additionally, 35.2 million pesos were allegedly misallocated through excessive payments exceeding the permitted limits for personnel services.
Separately, the Congress's Administration Committee is requesting an investigation by the State Auditor (ASE) into a suspected fraud involving the forgery of signatures on 30 checks belonging to 21 deputies. The alleged fraud, which may exceed 15 million pesos, has led to a formal complaint filed with the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) for potential crimes including embezzlement, fraud, and document falsification.
