Guerrero deputies request audit over 30 million peso check fraud
Five local deputies from the Administration Committee of the Guerrero Congress have requested a preventive audit from the State Superior Audit Office (ASE) following a major fraud scandal involving falsified checks.
The State Attorney General's Office (FGE) is investigating the case after two Morena legislators, Guadalupe García Villalba and Catalina Apolinar Santiago, filed complaints regarding approximately 100 forged checks issued in their names without their authorization. The total amount involved exceeds 30 million pesos.
Investigations are targeting several officials, including the Deputy Director of Financial Resources, Héctor Avilez Cruz, and various administrative staff. The allegations include breach of trust, fraudulent administration, forgery, and embezzlement. Former President of the Political Coordination Board, Jesús Urióstegui García, has also been named in connection with the scandal. One legislator has additionally filed a complaint with Morena's National Commission of Honesty and Justice regarding the matter.
