Guerrero government facilitates seasonal agricultural jobs in the US

The government of Guerrero, through the Secretariat of Labor and Social Welfare (STyPS), conducted a labor linkage event for agricultural workers seeking temporary employment in the United States. As part of the External Labor Mobility Mechanism of the Guerrero National Employment Service, 62 workers from eight Mexican states were interviewed for seasonal roles.

The participants originated from Guerrero, Morelos, Puebla, Sinaloa, San Luis Potosí, Jalisco, Hidalgo, and Durango. The recruitment process focused on tomato cultivation opportunities provided by American companies, including McClure Properties and Indian Okee Harvesting. These positions offer temporary contracts lasting between eight and ten months.

Omar Estrada Bustos, head of the STyPS, stated that these institutional actions aim to provide safe, orderly, and transparent employment alternatives, ensuring workers have clear information regarding their hiring conditions and labor rights.
