Mexico apple production reaches 433,235 tons through August 2026

Mexico's apple production reached 433,235 tons between January and August 2026, representing more than 50 percent of the total volume harvested in 2025. According to the Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development, this output averages over 54,000 tons per month.

Production is highly concentrated in three states, which together account for 96.3 percent of the national total. Chihuahua is the leading producer, contributing 85.7 percent of the harvest recorded through August, followed by Puebla at 6.8 percent and Durango at 3.8 percent.

In 2025, national production grew by 5.6 percent compared to 2024, reaching 810,850 tons. The economic value of the crop also saw a 5.7 percent increase, rising from 8,541 million to 9,026 million pesos. Current domestic production covers approximately 77 percent of Mexico's national demand.
