Guerrero reports 33.4% decrease in daily intentional homicides
Guerrero has recorded a 33.44 percent decrease in the daily average of intentional homicides during the period of January to August 2026, compared to the same timeframe in 2025.
According to data presented by Marcela Figueroa Franco of the Secretariado Ejecutivo del Sistema Nacional de Seguridad Pública, the state ranks 14th nationally for the highest reduction in such crimes. Guerrero recorded 652 intentional homicides during this period, accounting for 5.6 percent of the national total.
Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda attributed the decline to coordinated efforts between state, federal, and municipal security institutions, focusing on prevention and intelligence. The report was presented within the context of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo’s second government report.
