Guerrero security forces report arrests and extortion prevention efforts
Security institutions in Guerrero have reported various operations aimed at combating crime and preventing extortion. During the week of August 24 to 30, coordinated efforts involving the State Police, National Guard, and Navy resulted in 26 arrests for various offenses.
In addition to these arrests, authorities seized 173 marine turtles, 48 bladed weapons, and several vehicles and motorcycles. The State Attorney General's Office also reported the execution of 111 arrest warrants related to crimes such as homicide, extortion, kidnapping, and domestic violence.
In Acapulco, security agencies conducted a preventive campaign targeting merchants and transporters. The initiative focused on providing information to reduce risks and facilitate reporting of extortion through official channels. Information guides were distributed in public transport and strategic areas like the Central de Abasto to encourage citizens to use institutional mechanisms for assistance.
