Guerrero theater sector faces decline, says Rodolfo Soto

Rodolfo Soto, president of the Patronato Domingo Soler, has criticized the current administration for the decline of theater in the state of Guerrero. Speaking on International Actor and Actress Day, Soto noted that several cultural initiatives have been halted, including state theater showcases, national tours, and school theater competitions.

Soto also highlighted a lack of adequate infrastructure, describing existing venues in Chilpancingo as mere warehouses due to a lack of equipment. He pointed out that funding for the Jornadas Alarconianas, the state’s primary scenic event, has remained stagnant at 3 million pesos for several years. He emphasized the need to professionalize actors to dignify their work within society.
