Guerrero’s Birthday Marked by Cultural Week in Tixtla, Mexico
Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda invited residents and visitors to enjoy a week‑long cultural program in Tixtla commemorating the 244th anniversary of General Vicente Guerrero’s birth. The celebration runs through 13 August and features roughly 45 free events, including conferences, artistic performances, concerts and family activities. The state’s Secretary of Culture, Aida Melina Martínez Rebolledo, highlighted a conference on Guerrero and Antonia Nava de Catalán and a musical show titled “Guerrero Feeling.”
The municipal authorities also announced that the official civic‑military parade will be held on 10 August, rather than the traditional 9 August, citing logistical reasons and aligning with the official birth date of 10 August 1782. Mayor Alberto Michi Campos said the change reflects coordination with state officials and cultural groups.
The program aims to honor Guerrero’s legacy while promoting the region’s cultural, gastronomic and historical heritage.
