Guerrilla attack in Algeciras leaves two soldiers dead and 17 injured
A guerrilla attack in Algeciras, Huila, resulted in the deaths of two Colombian National Army members and left 17 others injured. The incident occurred when a patrol was moving to inspect a suspected bomb cylinder in a rural area. Attackers detonated an explosive device and opened fire on the troops before fleeing into mountainous terrain.
General Royer Gómez Herrera, commander of the National Army, visited the injured soldiers at the Medilaser Clinic in Neiva. During his visit, he expressed institutional support for the troops and reaffirmed the military's commitment to combating criminal organizations involved in drug trafficking and extortion.
In response to the ambush, the Ninth Brigade of the Army has intensified patrols, established strategic control points, and launched offensive operations to locate those responsible and secure the region.
