Guerrilla kidnapping reported near CVG Bauxilum mining site

Two young people were kidnapped by suspected Colombian guerrilla members near the CVG Bauxilum mining site in Los Pijiguaos, Bolívar state, Venezuela. The incident occurred in Morichalito during daylight hours.

Local reports indicate that heavy gunfire and explosions were heard throughout the night following the abduction, causing significant fear among residents and workers. The area has seen increased tension due to armed clashes between factions of the National Liberation Army (ELN) and FARC-EP dissidents fighting for control over bauxite resources.

The presence of these groups has led to a partial paralysis of extraction activities at the CVG Bauxilum camp and a reduction in working hours. Residents have also reported instances of forced recruitment in the region.
