Guggenheim Abu Dhabi to open December 2026

The Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is scheduled to open on December 11, 2026, on Saadiyat Island. This project marks the end of a two-decade wait and will become the fourth active Guggenheim museum in the world, joining locations in New York, Venice, and Bilbao.

Designed by the renowned architect Frank Gehry, the museum is the largest Guggenheim project ever constructed. The facility spans approximately 80,000 square meters, featuring 11,600 square meters of exhibition space distributed across 30 galleries, with an additional 23,000 square meters dedicated to outdoor exhibitions and large-scale installations.

The architectural design consists of 10 monumental, sculptural towers connected by a large central atrium. The museum aims to present a new history of modern and contemporary art through a global perspective, with a specific focus on artists from the Middle East, Asia, and North Africa.
