Guglionesi water crisis prompts calls for public mobilization
In Guglionesi, Molise, the Rifondazione Comunista party has called for a public mobilization on September 15 following a water quality emergency. Residents reported yellowish water flowing from taps, leading to a series of municipal restrictions.
On September 10, the municipality issued an advisory against using the public water supply for food or hygiene while awaiting official testing. This was followed by Ordinance number 18 on September 11, which imposed a total ban on using the public network for any purpose, including personal hygiene. The ordinance noted that water from fountains near the Town Hall remains safe for human consumption.
Political organizers are demanding clarity from the mayor regarding the timeline of the contamination and the management of the crisis, questioning why the population continued to use the water before the initial warnings were published.
