GUHEM launches space and aviation science high school in Bursa

The Gökmen Space and Aviation Center (GUHEM) in Bursa is transitioning from a museum and experience center into an academic institution. Through a protocol with the Ministry of National Education and cooperation with TÜBİTAK, the GUHEM Aviation and Space Technologies Science High School is set to begin its first academic term.

Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO) President İbrahim Burkay announced that the school will initially enroll 48 students. The educational model includes a one-year preparatory year followed by four years of high school training. To support student development, the program will offer scholarships, housing, and international development opportunities.

GUHEM, established in 2020, is described by Burkay as the only space and aviation training center in Turkey and one of the top five globally. The facility, which attracts over one million visitors annually, features advanced chemistry, biology, and physics laboratories. The initiative aims to foster 'talent mining' to provide the qualified human resources necessary for Turkey's growing defense and aerospace industries.
