Croatia and regional preparations for All Saints Day observances
As the All Saints Day and All Souls Day holidays approach, various cities across Croatia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina are implementing logistical measures to accommodate increased cemetery visits.
In Croatia, major cities including Zagreb, Split, Rijeka, Osijek, and Zadar are adjusting public transport schedules. Many municipalities are offering free bus or tram services to cemeteries, such as ZET in Zagreb and Autotrolej in Rijeka, to mitigate traffic congestion. Cities like Slavonski Brod and Velika Gorica are also introducing temporary traffic regulations and one-way street systems to ensure pedestrian safety near burial grounds.
In Serbia, Subotica has completed maintenance on 13 cemeteries and extended operating hours. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, florists in Mostar report high demand for chrysanthemums, with prices remaining relatively stable compared to last year.
Authorities, including the Croatian Firefighting Association, have issued safety warnings regarding the risk of fires caused by lit candles, melting wax, and dry flowers. Additionally, registered florists have raised concerns regarding unregulated flower sales by unregistered vendors during this peak period.
