Acer warns of rising PC prices as LG expands monitor lineup in Brazil

Acer CEO Jason Chen has warned of a “technological inflation” that could drive the prices of PCs and notebooks up by 5% to 20% by the fourth quarter of 2026. This trend is driven by rising costs for essential components, specifically RAM and SSDs, as the industry's demand for AI-focused semiconductors pressures the global memory chip supply chain. Price increases are expected to most heavily impact high-capacity configurations, such as devices with 16 GB to 32 GB of RAM or 1 TB+ SSDs, with the peak of these price hikes projected to last until mid-2027.

In the monitor market, LG has announced a significant expansion of its portfolio in Brazil for 2026, planning to launch 24 new models. This represents a 50% increase in launches compared to 2025. The expansion covers various categories, including gaming, productivity, and medical applications. A key highlight is the UltraGear 25G590B-B, which is being marketed as the world’s first Full HD gaming monitor with a native 1000 Hz refresh rate. LG also intends to expand its partnership with the Brazilian esports organization MiBR through co-owned championship programs.
