Guidelines for identifying organic products and eco-friendly holiday practices

To identify certified organic food products in the European Union, consumers should look for three specific labeling elements. According to Virginija Andrulė, director of Ekoagros, terms like ‘natural’ or ‘rural’ do not guarantee organic status. Instead, consumers should seek the EU organic logo—a leaf made of white stars on a green background. Additionally, packaging must include a code for the controlling authority (such as LT-EKO-001) and a reference to the origin of agricultural raw materials, such as ‘EU agriculture’ or ‘non-EU agriculture’.

Regarding environmental sustainability during the All Souls' Day period, experts recommend choosing live, plantable, or dried flowers over plastic decorations to reduce non-recyclable waste. For candles, using natural wax instead of paraffin and selecting reusable containers is advised to minimize air pollutants and mixed waste. Proper waste sorting is also emphasized: plastic pots should go to plastic recycling, clean glass candle holders to glass recycling, and organic matter like withered flowers to green waste containers.
