Guidonia Montecelio opens Illumina sports hub and Colle Fiorito skatepark

The Italian government inaugurated two new community sports facilities in Guidonia Montecelio. The Illumina open‑air playground in Villalba and the Skate Park Colle Fiorito were built by Sport e Salute and funded by Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi. The opening ceremony was attended by Abodi, Sport e Salute president Marco Mezzaroma, CEO Diego Nepi Molineris, Mayor Mauro Lombardo and ambassadors Giacomo Galanda, Stefano Tilli and Massimiliano Rosolino. The sites include a skate‑park, basketball and volleyball courts and will be free to use, aiming to foster inclusion, well‑being and social interaction for local youth.

Abodi highlighted the broader “Sport Illumina” programme, noting more than 1,500 new sports fields are being created in small municipalities across Italy. He said the skate‑park marks the end of a 20‑year administrative process, and the new playground represents a concrete step toward making sport accessible to all. Performances by the Fast Foot Crew break‑dance group and artist Pier C added a cultural dimension to the event, underscoring the project's blend of sport and urban culture.
