Bravos de Margarita acquire catcher José Herrera in multi‑player trade

The Bravos de Margarita announced a multi‑player transaction with the Águilas del Zulia ahead of the 2025‑2026 LVBP season. The Bravos received veteran catcher José Herrera and two young infield prospects, José Colmenares and Luiyin Alastre, while sending catcher Elías Díaz and pitcher Carlos Navas to the Águilas.

General manager Yves Hernández said the club had been seeking an experienced catcher “we can count on from day one,” emphasizing Herrera’s five years of LVBP experience and his recent AAA performance with the Texas Rangers (.229 average, .344 OBP, .665 OPS). Hernández added that the young infielders “have a lot to add to the future of our organization.” The trade is aimed at strengthening the Bravos’ roster for a title push and returning to the league’s final round.
